In the early years, fans made tailgating a huge part of their weekends. Big box televisions with rabbit ears were carried into place using cotton bale hand trucks. Canvas Army surplus tents with wooden poles were erected for fans to enjoy the pre-game analysis of teams like the St. Louis Gunners ('34), Boston Yanks ('44 - '48), New York Bulldogs ('49), and Dallas Texans ('52).
